Eureka Math

Our school uses Eureka Math as a way to challenge our students with the Common Core standards. This rigorous program focuses on conceptual development and utilizing many strategies to solve a problem. It may feel very different from the way we learned math, so here are some resources to help you help your child.

The Oakdale Joint Unified School District has a website page that links videos, completed problem sets, and homework sheets for each lesson in the 8 modules. It is an excellent resource if you want to better understand the strategy, see how the Problem Set (classwork) was completed, or print out homework that may have been lost.

Zearn

This program aligns with our  Eureka Math program and allows students to review math lessons we have already done, move on to future lessons once there is a certain level of proficiency achieved, and even develop accuracy and speed with previously learned skills so that their math fluency is

developed.  It also is adaptive, meaning it adjusts to their level.

This is great for those students that are interested in moving at a more accelerated pace in math. I can monitor progress and determine areas of strength

and areas of review.

Students have the same login and password they use for all their other logins.

The only thing is I do not want them to move past our current Module. If they want to  review previously taught/learned Modules, that's fine. But I don't want

them to move past our current unit. If they finish and show high achievement,

we will develop another activity to support and enhance their learning.

It can be used to review lessons in our current module and to review concepts for quizzes or tests. You can always do a lesson more than once. Please check it out and enjoy.

Math Practices

One of the areas your child will be graded on this year is the Math Practices. These refer to the strategies and approaches your child uses to break down, solve, and analyze a problem. Here are a couple of articles that better explains the skills associated with each Math Practice.
