Homework Expectations

Homework is an important part of reviewing what was taught during the school day, which helps move the content to your child's long-term memory. Since many students have extracurricular activities or family obligations after school, I assign weekly homework so you can fit in the practice when it best works for your schedule. PDFs of the homework will also be included in the Sunday newsletter to help you plan your week and print out if absent or if the homework packet is lost.

The math homework and some of the grammar pages may be more challenging to complete ahead of time as they are not taught until the day it is assigned.

Homework should not take more than 45 min - 1 hour to complete. If it does, stop and write me a note or email.

Homework is assigned Monday and due on Fridays (unless there is a short week).

3-4 Activities are generally assigned each day. It is often picked from these types of activities.

  • read for 20 minutes

  • spelling practice

  • math lesson based on what has been taught

  • reading comprehension

  • grammar practice

  • writing practice
