For one of the first times in a long long time, I decided not to add a top coat or clear overlay on some of my nails. I wanted to see how it held up and I knew I was going to change it the following week for a family photo shoot.

I noticed something! The nails without a second layer showed some cracking and wore away more (still only noticeable close up) more than the ones with the clear glitter overlay!

Since joining Color Street, I’m also a part of a nail health group with certified nail tech experts. They share that the cracking actually is not a bad thing. It shows my nails are healthy and are bending without breaking.

But if the cracks are not your thing, the easy thing to do is wear a double layer or put on a clear coat of nail polish! I personally love the glitter overlays best.

(I have noticed the glitter sets don’t really show cracking at all. I think it may be because they are thicker.)
